Perfectly Fried Sweet Potato Fries

Due to unforeseen circumstances, D and I were up and about this morning. What's the big deal you ask? We hardly ever wake-up early enough to enjoy breakfast. Which is quite a shame, because I don't know about you, but I LOVE breakfast. So, after taking care of some business we drove on over to one of out favorite lunch spots, Mango Sun (1185 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach), to finally try out their breakfast menu!

Mango Sun is located smack dab in the middle of a tuscan-inspired shopping center and often over looked. The interior is simply decorated yet provides, well ... a sunny ambiance. A good amount of both booths and tables provide for whatever seating you're in the mood for.

Currently on an oatmeal kick, I went with the half-order of oatmeal ($1.75) and a blueberry muffin ($2.25). Talk about carbo loading! I was given the choice of having my oatmeal made with water or milk. I obviously went with milk (the tastier option), but having a choice was a pleasant surprise. The hearty half-sized portion was served with all the fixins a girl could ask for: a side of brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon. The muffin was warm and served with whipped butter, with whip cream available as well. Loaded with all the toppings, the oatmeal was perfectly thick and delicious, while my muffin more than satisfied my blueberry craving.

D ordered the Peppercorn Chicken Wrap ($8.25) off the lunch menu, finding it hard to resist the temptation of sweet potato fries. Made with grilled chicken & bacon, a warm tortilla contains grilled red onions, diced tomatoes, ASIAGO cheese, crisp romaine lettuce and homemade peppercorn dressing.
Now let me tell you about these sweet potato fries. One word: AMAZING. If there is any reason to return again and again, these fries are it! Not too thin, not to thick; soft on the inside, crispy on the outside and oh so addicting. I guarantee they will be the best sweet potato fries to grace your taste buds. Eat them.

Good food is nothing without great service and lucky for us, we had one of the best servers around this morning, Tara. Our drinks were always full and the food was delivered timely. She even made sure to bring us to-go cups for the road, a sweet gesture seldom offered.

Once again, Mango Sun provided a great meal. We'll be sure to venture back many times for those awesome sweet potato fries. Open seven days a week, they serve breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Check out their website for a full menu and more information. You might even find a 10 percent off coupon (wink, wink).

*Apologies for poor quality photos of the food. All I had available was the camera on my now obsolete smart phone. Better pictures to come in the future. *
